PRESIDENTS NEWS LETTER

SOLWAY FEDERATION of RACING PIGEON SOCIETIES

NEWSLETTER JANUARY 2016

Following a Management Committee meeting on Monday 11th January this is the first newsletter of 2016 to bring all Federation members up to date with the main decision taken at the Committee meeting.

The Committee decided to reduce the Birdage for 2016 from 45p per bird to 40p per bird.

Due to the Scottish National Flying Club not having held their AGM and therefore not decided on their race programme for 2016 the Committee deferred the finalisation of the Federation race programme untill the next Management Committee meeting in February.

The Young Bird Training programme was discussed and the Committee decided some changes were required. Due to the decision taken at the Annual General Meeting to bring the Young Bird race programme forward one week and to have the first Young Bird race on Sunday the 17th July if the Old Bird Open race is liberated on the Friday. There is a good possibility of there only being two Young Bird Training tosses. With this in mind the Committee have taken the decision to only have two Young Bird Training tosses, one from High Hesket on Saturday 9th July and one from Penrith on Sunday 10th July with the cost per loft reduced to £8.

Since the Committee meeting I have received a number of calls on this issue and have decided to get the Committee to look again at the Young Bird training at the next Committee meeting in early February.

The Committee are looking into replacing the drinkers on the Transporter with drinkers made from aluminium. A price has been received from a Company in Ireland and it is hoped to have two samples from them before the next Committee meeting.

Request from two Clubs for additional baskets were considered and it was decided to re-allocate two basket each week from Dumfries Flying Club with one going to Brydekirk H.C. and the other to Springfield H.C.

Application for convoying facilities from Irthing Valley Invitation Club and South West Federation were accepted and everyone co-operation is requested to accommodate these organisations.

I would like to wish all our members every success in the coming season

M H Goldie

President
